Posted in Club Night, Compilation, House, remix/cover with tags , , , , , , , , , , on October 26, 2011 by rachaelwilliams

Pets Recordings LogoEarly next month sees the digital and vinyl release of the second part of Pets Recordings fantastic compilation Friends Will Carry You Home. With the first part featuring Coat of Arms, Death On The Balcony and label heads Catz N Dogz; one could wonder how this could be bettered. But, there’s a simple answer. By Martin Dawson remixed by Maceo freakin’ Plex, that’s how.

Pets Recordings – Friends Will Carry You Home

So not only have Greg and Voitek of Catz N Dogz released what will undoubtedly be this Autumn’s smash tune on their compilation, which is on part *two* of THREE, but they’ve made this awesome and utterly covet-able canvas bag to go with the compilation. Top work lads, top work.

Want to love them just that little bit more? Check out this totally rad video for Martin Dawson – Think About It feat NRG (Maceo Plex remix) then….

Friends Will Carry You Home is released on vinyl on 7th November 2011 with the digital release following a week later on the 14th. In the meantime Martin Dawson plays Potty Mouth Halloween alongside Danny Daze, Clive Henry and Jay Shepheard this Friday at Village Underground in Shoreditch. Word on the street is tickets will sell out today so make sure you buy one now! Hopefully your friends will carry you home from that, huh.

We can guarantee this year you’ll be remembering the 5th November not for Guy Fawkes, but as the night Spectrum shook Electric Brixton with their bass heavy line up. Featuring The Glitch Mob live, Shy FX and MC Wrec, Loadstar, Drumsound & Bassline Smith and many more, Spectrum London’s November event packs a heavyweight punch.

COMPETITION: V.I.P. Entry to PM Halloween Special w/ Danny Daze and Clive Henry

Posted in Club Night, Competition, mix, We are not a rock band with tags , , , , , on October 20, 2011 by Montagano

We’re giving away 2 pairs of tickets for PM Halloween Special on Friday 29th October.

DJs Danny Daze, Clive Henry, Agaric, Martin Dawson, Jay Shepheard and Potty Mouth residents will all be descending on Village Underground for what is arguably the line up of halloween this year.

Over the years, Potty Mouth has written itself into folklore by throwing awesome halloween parties, but I think this their best line up yet. The winners of this comp will also be granted access to the ‘Guest Area’, which is a little backstage type bit where the DJs are probably gonna be hanging out.

To win, all you have to do is correctly answer this simple question:

In ‘PM Halloween Special’, what does the ‘PM’ mean?

  1. Potty Mouth
  2. Pissy Mouth
  3. Penis Mouth

Send your answer (either 1, 2 or 3) to pottymouthdisco@gmail.com Make sure the subject line says ‘WANARB Competition’ otherwise your entry may get missed.

To whet the appetite for the night, here’s a warm-up mix I made for the event (shameless plug) and also MikeOK’s mix. You’ll be able to catch us both playing at the warehouse party and the afterparty. See y’all there.

Bosh.

Holy shit! This video has just made my week. Watching this video build along to the beat just made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I can’t remember the last time that happened – AND I’m not even buzzed.  Justin Martin, Ardalan, LEZGO, Dirtybird – I applaud you.

Thanks to pettingparty for this monster find.

When WANARB Met: Jay Shepheard

Posted in Club Night, disco, House, Interviews, Techno with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on October 14, 2011 by rachaelwilliams

Jay ShepheardSome people think New Years Eve is the best night of the year. But those people are probably wrong. Because the correct answer is actually Halloween. Party-goers make a massive effort with their costumes, and promoters with the nights they put on. Potty Mouth is no exception, having pulled out all the stops and laid on a monster line-up. Agaric: BOOM. Jay Shepheard: BOOM. Martin Dawson: BOOM. Clive Henry: BOOM. Danny Daze: DOUBLE-BOOM! They’ve also decided to have it on the Halloween Friday, meaning that you’re likely to start as you mean to go and carry on throughout the weekend in a heightened state of utter debauchery. To see if any of us will make it out alive we caught up with Jay Shepheard to give us the lowdown…

Review: Phonica’s 8th Birthday Party

Posted in Gig review, House, Warehouse Party, We are not a rock band with tags , , , , , , , , , on October 14, 2011 by rachaelwilliams

Heidi at Phonica's 8th birthday8th birthdays are usually tremendous affairs. Cake, candles, balloons, presents, maybe a clown. No such frivolities for Phonica Records. Instead they booked out the normally wonderful 3-arched Great Suffolk Street Warehouse and pulled together one of the most impressive lineups South London has seen all year. With Matt Tolfrey’s Leftroom arch playing host to both Benoit & Sergio and Visionquest, and the Phonica arch featuring Joy Orbison and Soul Clap, you’d think you’d have the night covered. But it was former-Phonica-employee Heidi who had, for us, the winning arch.

When WANARB Met: A1 Bassline

A1 BasslineWe caught up with talented young DJ and producer A1 Bassline ahead of his set this Friday at The Future Now at Kings Cross club The Egg. Hailing from Croydon, A1 Bassline, aka Christian Sibthorpe, has been on our radar for a while but with the current rerelease of his banging track Falsehood on dirtybird we thought it was about time to have a chat about all manner of topics from Claude Von Stroke to moths to Croydon Hot-Spots…

Dreaming Of LA

Posted in House, Video with tags , , , , , , , , on October 6, 2011 by rachaelwilliams

Culprit Sessions on the roof of The StandardPicture the scene: it’s sunny and hot but there’s a light, afternoon balmy breeze keeping you cool. You’re at rooftop pool party, surrounded by gorgeous girls in bikinis splashing about alluringly. Your ears are full of cutting edge deep house music that you just can’t get enough of. You’ve got an ice-cold beer in your hand and you might be dancing, you might not be, but either way you’re having insane amounts of fun. You’re at one of Culprit’s famed Sunday rooftop sessions at The Standard in LA.

Or, like us, you’re at work, in London, flu-ridden and only dreaming all these things are true and picturing them oh so vividly after watching this new video courtesy of Leftroom’s Matt Tolfrey. The footage was filmed at the last session and probably marks the end of summer, or something.
