Lovebox To Clash With Sónar
Last year’s Lovebox (affectionately known as ‘Mudbox’ to all who entered Victoria Park in Hackney that weekend) was pretty great with Snoop, Art Department, 2ManyDJs and Azari & III all on the bill. In fact the lineups just keep getting better and better each year, making the east London festival very firmly one of the capitals ‘must-do’s’ of the summer.
This year, we expect bigger and better (and fingers crossed better weather) ….. Only thing is, they’ve actually gone and moved the date back to June which means it will clash with another summer ‘must-do’, Sónar Festival in Barcelona. Who knows how this will affect the lineup and the attendance as both artists and punters are forced to pick between the two.
On a personal note, I couldn’t be happier with the move as it means I get to spend my birthday watching bands and going on funfair rides down the road from my house with most of my mates. With budgets looking even tighter next year, Sónar is sadly out of the equation so I’m delighted to have a brilliant birthday option now suddenly on the table. (Unlike last year when I was ridiculously gutted to have missed Art Department’s amazing set at Off-Sónar).
Only time will tell how this festival clash will pan out.
