Offset Radar – Bombay Bicycle Club

So in the second of our Offset Radar posts, we bring you Bombay Bicycle Club. Tremendous.

No, they are not a chain of Indian Restaurants who’ve started making music, as I once thought, and no, they don’t make Indian music, they make wonderful guitar led indie pop. They named themselves after a restaurant in North London, (I’ve actually eaten there, and I can inform you their music is a far higher quality than the food they serve there). Bombay Bicycle Club won the “Road to V” (a competition Channel4 ran a few years ago in which bands compete to win a set at V Festival), but different to other winners and the Orange Unsigned winners, they aren’t shit! This is good news for everyone, as their album was released back in July and its brilliant! It’s called “I had the blues but I shook them loose” and includes a song that you may have already heard, as I had, but didn’t know who it was ‘Evening/Morning’, which is great. No, thats not a good word to use. It’s excellent, uplifting, brilliant!

Not only have we got that track, we’ve got another, and I’ve thrown in a few remixes for good measure!

Bombay Bicycle Club Dust on the Ground (Banjo or Freakout Remix)

If I had to say what my album of the year for 2009 was, at this point, off the top of my head, BBC would get the #1 spot, no questions asked.
