1, 2, freddy’s coming for you…

Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy KruegerRegular readers of the blog will by now (probably) be aware that it’s pretty much a prerequisite that if you write for WANARB you dig horror films. Especially ones from the 80’s, and seeing as there are no new ideas in Hollywood and pretty much every franchise from that period is being re-made you could say we’re in our element.

Next up for the re-make treatment is ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’. I remember watching the first film when I was far too young to see it and it scared the living shit out of me. For some time Freddy Krueger was my nightmares, then I watched it years later and realised it wasn’t so scary, it was campy as hell! Below is the trailer for the new film, the ‘Razor Fingered Dream Demon’ this time played by Jackie Earle Haley. It looks like they’re gonna go with a much more serious, more evil tone which i’m liking, also the fact that Freddy now actually looks like a burns victim instead of having the over top monster face from the previous films I think is much more creepy. Yep, i’m hyped for this. Check it out and see what you think?

  1. Not that noticeable in the trailer, but its got quite a big cast, well, IMO.

Thomas Dekker – aka John Connor in Terminator SCC
Kyle Gallner – aka Cassidy ‘Beaver’ Cassablancas in Veronica Mars
Connie Britton – aka Tami Taylor from FNL

My favourite is Clancy Brown, aka Mr Crabs from SSP

  2. NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO
Why can’t these fuckers just leave things alone?
WTF can’t Michael Bay get any of his own ideas? He should keep his stinking fingers out of HORROR CLASSICS – Amityville, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday 13th… hate him.

Craven USED to be good. People think Craven, they think Scream. They forget Hills 1&2, Last House (the originals obv), The People Under The Stairs… This remake destroys me.

I’m furious and devastated at the same time. THERE IS ONLY ONE FREDDY – and that’s Robert Englund. Someone should have stopped this. It’s even more of an abhorrence than the ORIGINAL idea of Freddy – you know, the result of a nun being raped by 100 madmen.
