Driving a Death Cab home for Christmas

I was able to write about Death Cab for Cutie, but it was a bad song, on a bad soundtrack, which left me feeling sad, which wasn’t really what I wanted for a band I loved. Today though is a different matter! DCFC’s “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” is a cover of a song written by murderer Phil Spector, but don’t let that put you off. The murderer could pen a good tune and Ben Gibbards vocals lend themselves to this wonderful, heartfelt request for his lover to come home. Warms the heart it does.

Death Cab for Cutie – Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)

It’s beautiful. Pure and simple. When you compare it to Darlene Love’s original version, you’ll see a massive difference, hopefully agreeing with me that their version is far more wonderful, and hopefully understand a little bit more why I love Death Cab.
