WORLD UNKNOWN – LABEL LAUNCH!
After buying most of the back catalog from his Dissident label and finally catching a mind blowing set playing support to Chicago legend Marshall Jefferson at SOCIETY last Friday, we are relieved to hear it’s only a week til we get to witness some more vinyl dance floor destruction courtesy of the one and only Andy Blake.
This Friday sees the launch party for World Unknown, a new vinyl label attached to the monthly happening sharing its name. One of Brixton’s best kept sonic secrets, the night has steadily been creating (and sustaining!) a real London underground from within its brick railway arch lair for some time now and the label sounds like the perfect addition to an already considerable aural arsenal… for more info on the label visit; http://worldunknown.co.uk/label.html
It won’t be the usual record launch party though, as the WU promoters assure us…
“No ocean of free booze, no enormous celebrity guest list, no dwarves with bowls of gak on their heads, and almost definitely nobody from what’s left of the modern music industry in attendance.”
Exactly how it should be! You can however expect the usual WU faces, two bags of records, a smoke-filled room and a big black wall of speakers pounding out the pressure til the early hours.
DJs Andy Blake (Dissident/Cave Paintings) and Joe Hart (Body Hammer/Bloc) with be playing throbbing electronic music for dancing™ from 11pm -6am
Entrance is only £5 members/concessions and £7 others, you can email the lads on firstname.lastname@example.org for £5 list all night (ltd to first 50).
The venue (address will be released closer to the time) is easy to get to by tube (Brixton 10 mins walk), overground (Loughborough Junct 30 seconds) and bus. The 35/N35 stops right outside and runs all night and day.
