10 Tracks From Elon

ElonAs he’s due to hit our shores early next year, we asked Israeli-born, NYC-based DJ and producer Elon to spread a little early Christmas cheer and share with us his top tracks for December. Fan of underground techno, deep-house, tech-house and the like? You’ll be mighty pleased with his picks then! Don’t say we don’t spoil you….

XDB – Sunda (Brooks Mosher Remix) [Dolly]
Loving the automated bass lines, the pads, and the simplicity of the track arrangement. Great EP in general, but especially loving this dark and moody remix from Brooks Mosher.

Gerry Read – All by Myself [Fourth Wave]
Nice finale for this trilogy – I’m a big fan of drone house – also am really into his sophisticated use of the samples here – sooo raw!

Gathaspar – Balsam Pervian (Mikael Stavöstrand remix) [Thema] – snippet
This is a unique groove with catchy synth melody, deep yet driving tune, impressive remix from my Swedish friend… I’ve been digging lots of the recent releases on this NY- based label.

George FitzGerald – Feel Like [Hotflush Recordings]
Brilliant crossover EP.  Free style, house, a 90’s feel. 😉 “Feel Like” is my favourite track out of this release and has been very useful in my sets. George is always consistent in his style and yet his releases are cutting edge, crossing over between dub-step, house and techno…

Jeremy P. Caulfield & Cesare Vs Disorder – Young Pretenders [Dumb Unit] – snippet
Great release from my two good friends which celebrates 10 years of Dumb Unit…
It has a dope bass line and stands out from the generic tech house we usually hear these days.

P’Taah – This Is Imaginary  [Street King]
Wonderful to see another album from this talented artist, loving the nu-house / jazz on this album..  especially in the case of “this is Imaginary” – an example of an impressively intricate production with interesting progress throughout the track. Summer may be over, but there are always good moments to drop this tune….

Darling Farah – Division [Civil Music]
Great minimal tune, perfect track to open a set, who said that there must be snares in every track?

Dave Clarke – The Compass [Skint]
One of my old-time favorites; so funky, so innocent and uplifting.. Always effective on the dance floor..

Robag Wruhme – Donnerkuppel [Kompakt]
I’ve always been into melodic-progressive chords, but with techno attitude… this tune is a great example. Perfect for my closing sets.

Dario Zenker – Give 6 [Ilian Tape]
I love the vibe on this track, the production, the melody… beautiful tune from one of the most under-rated producers out there. Not a peak-time track, but this is always on my playlist – you never know where the after-hours will take you 😉

Elon plays Select*Elect in London on Saturday 25th February 2012. Second release tickets available on Resident Advisor now.
