A boat party?! I’ve managed to do most things drunk, BBQ’ing, Swimming, Various kinds of sports but I have never been on a boat and been drunk. What a fantastic opportunity! I was going to enjoy this and it was all thanks to Rizla. They had decided to throw a 2nd London boat party on the last seagoing paddle steamer in the world, The Waverly. Amazing! Into this seafaring mix Rizla had added Optimo and Special Guest Greg Wilson who threw down a wide variety of electro shanties for us to party to.

Win tickets to the Rizla Boat Party Tomorrow!

Posted in Club Night, Competition with tags , , , on October 7, 2010 by Knockturnal

Tomorrow night (friday 8th October) sees The Waverley, the last seagoing paddle steamer in the world, set sail for the second instalment of the Rizla Riverboat Shuffle, with DJ’s Optimo and special guest Greg Wilson.

The Waverley is a true icon of engineering, which first came into service in 1947 to replace the original steamer sunk off Dunkirk in 1940. A living, breathing monument to Britain’s sea faring and shipbuilding heritage, the legendary steamer now cruises the Thames. With a capacity of 700, it is unlike any ship that has hosted parties on the capital’s river ever before.

Optimo are DJs JD Twitch and JG Wilkes, when they’re not packing out the Sub Club in Glasgow, they’re touring the globe with their spectacularly diverse playlist and a no-nonsense ethos. They have produced compilation albums for Fabric and DJ Kicks as well as various remixes.

Pioneering DJ, Greg Wilson, needs no introduction, having recently played nearly every reputable club throughout the UK, he secured his legendary status by gracing the decks at The Hacienda and Wigan Pier.

After The Waverley has docked we disembark and head to a very special after-party at Cable near London Bridge ‘til the early hours.

Tickets for this event are completely sold out but we have a pair to give away (for both the boat and the after party) to one lucky reader! To be in with a chance of winning just tell us

Which year did the Waverly come into service?

A) 1947

B) 1996

C) 2004

Once you’ve done that email your answer to with ‘Rizla Party’ in the subject line. Closing date for entries is tomorrow (Friday 8th October) at midday. Winners will be picked at random and notified by email.
