Every now and again something truly awesome comes along and deserves some special attention, and this weekend the lovely people over at London’s latest debauched dance haven, Dance Tunnel, have a blinder in store for us!
Are you ready?
Hello Sports fans and Welcome to the Weekend! Your one stop shop to the wondrous things a happening this weekend. I hope you brought your dancing shoes! It may be getting cold and grey here in London, but these events are sure to keep things interesting.
German brothers Basti And Ali have, for almost 15 years, been better known to the world by their joint producing and DJing name Tiefschwarz. With a career spanning so many shifts in dance music, their pair have ably adapted and been at the forefront of deep house and techno with a longevity that most current producers can only dream of.
One half of the duo, Ali, comes to London this weekend to play a DJ set on Saturday 23rd June at Select*Elect alongside ReSolute acts Elon, Alexi Delano and Connie. And we’ve managed to snag a pair of tickets to give away to one lucky winner for the night! The first person to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line “I heart Tiefschwarz and Select*Elect please please I need that guestlist!” will win the tickets. Only the successful applicant will be contacted.
Ali, being the kind sir he is, managed to answer a few of our burning questions ahead of the night…

MORE ON GLADE FESTIVAL
This weekend sees Subb-an playing at the launch of Gist, a brand new deep house and techno night in Chelmsford, Essex. It’s not often We Are Not A Rockband ventures outside London town but with one of the masterminds behind Gist being DJ Mag’s Adam Saville, we thought it worth investigating.
With Birmingham’s Subb-an being one of the residents for groundbreaking night Below in his hometown and one half of label One Records with Adam Shelton, we caught up with him to quiz him on playing Essex, what’s new on his label and what one record he just can’t stop playing…
We caught up with New York based underground techno DJ, Elon, ahead of his set next weekend at London night Select*Elect. After he picked his Top Ten Tracks for us back in December we though now we be an ideal time to have a more in-depth chat. Not only did he show a rather frightening cannibalistic side(!) but he also revealed there’s hidden backwards messages in his music! Luckily, he’s not really that scary so we we quizzed him on New York nightlife and his collaboration with Maceo Plex. He also recorded the first hour of his set last weekend at Watergate in Berlin, full of techno treats and unreleased tracks which you can listen to exclusively on We Are Not A Rockband and download for FREE… What a dude!
As he’s due to hit our shores early next year, we asked Israeli-born, NYC-based DJ and producer Elon to spread a little early Christmas cheer and share with us his top tracks for December. Fan of underground techno, deep-house, tech-house and the like? You’ll be mighty pleased with his picks then! Don’t say we don’t spoil you….
